Pravins is a family run boutique jewellery retailer with stores in Cardiff and Reading. With almost sixty years of retail heritage, this new store at the highly regarded centre:mk shopping mall in Milton Keynes, this was an opportunity to elevate the brand experience through an evolved visual language and refined details.
We created a stunning shopfront featuring illuminated bronze, reeded glass lanterns highlighting the jewellery display. Inside, we created a hospitable space where customers are encouraged to browse in a relaxed environment. The showpiece is the bar with its marble counter, ribbed gold front, brass back bar shelving and globe pendants suspended from a perforated brass raft. Comfortable velvet bar stools provide the perfect perch for customers to sip champagne as they finalise their purchase.
A successful retail interior makes it easy for customers to understand the space, navigate it and engage with the products on offer. At the same time, it needs to respond to the practical and commercial requirements of the retailer. We look at customer flow, visibility, product presentation, lighting, materials and brand identity to create environments that are intuitive, distinctive and enjoyable to use.
Good retail design removes unnecessary barriers and makes the customer journey feel natural. Clear circulation, good sightlines, logical product placement and comfortable environments can make it easier for customers to explore and discover. Design also plays an important role in communicating the personality of the brand and creating reasons for customers to remember and return to the store.
Effective store layouts provide customers with clear routes through the space while allowing opportunities to pause, browse and discover. We consider entrances, focal points, sightlines, product adjacencies and areas of congestion to create a layout that feels intuitive. Good customer flow can improve both the shopping experience and the commercial performance of the space.
Experiential retail design looks beyond the simple transaction of buying a product and considers the wider experience of visiting the store. This might involve interaction, storytelling, demonstrations, hospitality or spaces designed for discovery and social activity. The objective is to give customers reasons to visit a physical location that they cannot replicate through online shopping alone.
