Aloft

Implementing a new global hospitality brand

London

Studio Duncalf has been working to refurbish the Aloft Hotel in stages since 2019.

We were commissioned initially to refurbish the reception and common areas. Prior to the refurb, the use of the space was constrained by dark heavy furniture limiting options for reconfiguration for events. A key objective was to allow for more flexible use of the space.
Working with reference to the Aloft brand guidelines, we gave the space a much lighter feel improving lines of sight and we improved guest circulation throughout and in particular around the reception area. We also introduced flexible partitions which could be opened or closed to divide or open up space as required.

We were then appointed to refurbish the hotel’s 252 rooms across and corridors to bring them in line with Aloft’s updated brand guidelines. The result being a brighter, more vibrant feel representing the energy and eclecticism of East London. Sense of place was enhanced through the use of bespoke artwork featuring key East London landmarks by artist Lukas Novotny.
